there is a graphic cleanness to godards movies (film-lettering and stills) that is just amazing. timeless and elegant. sophisticated even. have you seen vivre sa vie? what did you think?

it is incredibly difficult to read the subtitles when she looks directly into the camera. i couldn’t break her gaze, and didn’t want to.

I love Godard. You should see “Masculin, Féminin”, if you haven’t already. It’s wonderful.
i wish i could live in a godard film
I completely agree with you, on this post. Godard had such great art capabilities. I really like the lettering and artsy aspects from “La Chinoise”. Have you seen it? It’s quite impressive! The set is filled with painted on quotations and posters.
no i haven’t, i definitely will see it now! :)

The scene with the philosopher is the only one I remember from “vivre sa vie”, maybe it’s the strongest. A few minutes of quest of truth contrast with the caracters evolving in the same space, but unable and/or unwilling to share their world. Incommunicado. I love “Le mepris”
Came across those two music experiments over Godard images
