Ceramics, pottery and Mieli creatives

I went on a pottery course with Mieli Creatives together with my mother some week ago and it was so inspiring, now I just can’t get clay out of my mind. Typical how ideas blossom in retrospect! We will have to get a pottery oven so we can get the pinterest ideas out of our minds, haha.

So here’s a modest collection of things I fancy for now, from clay dots to pink houses (this one’s from Charleston).
Happy weekend!  ✫彡

Norwegian architecture, porridge and pines

I used to be all for the white interiors, no natural wood was allowed and even if it was just mildly stained I would be skeptical. Gone are those days, now I find myself looking for anything organic and natural. Could be my adoration for Japanese interior design that has finally gotten it’s way with material choices as well, nowadays I’ll simply be accepting a walnut-hued kitchen as well as a modernist white one.

So anyways, part of my inspirations as of now are all in the earthy and forest-y interiors. Tree panels can create an interesting atmosphere with their soothing structures, especially when placed like the ones in the facade above of Villa Nesøya by Lundhagem architects.

Porridge and pines, how very Scandinavian. Even a little elk on the plate, and a traditional brass pot. Can’t help but like this. First photo is by Line Dammen and the second one by Inger Marie Grini.

Floating, wall hung kitchen in light oak from a house in Baerum in Norway. The ceiling seems to float effortlessly as well thanks to the built in light at the edge.

So.. this happened.

This 9 weeks old pomeranian pup entered my life and became the center of cuteness.

Being an art director, there is an amount of phonyness that needs to be expressed here in the form of a logo. This is my dream client, I can’t help it.

Millie of course has her own instagram. Or pomstagram if you wish, hehe. Wouldn’t you? Maybe you have it, despite not being a cotton candy ball of fluff.

Anyways, say hi to Millie!

The Handmaid’s Tale – a review

Handmaid 1

This is a review of the first three episodes of MGM Televisions new drama, The Handmaid’s Tale.

!!MILD SPOILER ALERT!!

Big things can come from small beginnings. A single stone thrown can lead to an uprising. One persons political views can change the whole collective way of thinking. And looking back in history the roots of extremism can grow really strong before anyone notices its flower and makes sense of its true colors.
The same goes for the american society we see in Margaret Attwoods The Handmaid’s Tale.
In a very near future, US natality suddenly drops and desperation sets in, soon after someone kills the president and most of the government. A christian fundamentalist movement appears out of nowhere and promises to make America great again by taking away the peoples constitutional rights and introducing an old hierarchy, where women are at the very bottom.

handmaid 2
The serie follows Offred (Elisabeth Moss) who was captured by the secret police because she was married to a divorcee. Since all divorces where nullified by the new regime, she was now considered an adulteress and a criminal.
Since she was able to bear children she was captured alive and given to The Commander (Joseph Fiennes), a man of great political importance, to serve as a handmaiden, a surrogate mother. And thats where the story starts.

The tale jumps between the present where Offred spends her days doing errands and serving her purpose for the commander and his wife Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski), and the past, in which she lives with her own family and they witness the fall of the modern society with chaos, riots and waves of violence.

THE HANDMAID'S TALE -- "Offred" - Episode 101 - Offred, one the few fertile women known as Handmaids in the oppressive Republic of Gilead, struggles to survive as a reproductive surrogate for a powerful Commander and his resentful wife. (Photo by: Take Five/Hulu)
The first three episodes are directed by Reed Romano who worked att the HBO serie Vinyl, and more notably, shot the Beyoncé-video Lemonade. And the serie is created by Bruce Miller, who also produced The 100.
The Handmaidens Tale is a well-directed drama with some incredible shots. The scenography is also perfect, standing somewhere between clean purism and marbled bauhaus, everything lit in a natural sunlight. The conservative beliefs of the new world-order is even shown in actors dress codes. Handmaids wear red dresses and Jane Austin-esque hoods, the wives green, and the men are all dressed in black.

The story takes its time painting up the setting for Offreds tale, but it never gets boring. Its intriguing how a society can become this bizarre. But where other works of dystopian science fiction blames a third world war or the collapse of global economy,
The Handmaids Tale is all about the growth of conservative powers, where Man uses religion and gender-oppression as tools of power.

The Handmaid’s tale is a must-see for everyone who likes a compelling TV-show, but it takes some stomach being able to watch it. Its scary and dark, but so incredibly cool at the same time.

Stureby Stadsvillor SOLD

stureby-stadsvillor-nine-door-properties-liljewall-arkitekter-till-salu-stockholm

Translation

This is a project I’ve been working on as a art director and graphic designer this autumn. It’s a catalogue for a housing project in Stureby in Stockholm, and the apartments (which are currently up on the market) are created by Swedish architecture agency Liljewall and sold by Stockholm based real estater Nine Door Properties.

The text in the infographical presentation above is in Swedish but what it says is basically where on the map the apartments are located, that the kitchen island is built in marble, that they feature a large terrace and that they will be built and ready for moving into into in january 2018.

I found the photographer Nadja Helminen through instagram and I absolutely love her interior styling and photography style. Above are excerpts from the folder itself, along with her photos and a prototype of the finished product. Email me if you’d like a copy of it.

My fashion moodfilms for the Swedish Fashion Council

The trend Body Comfort

Twice a year I collaborate with the Swedish Fashion Council in the making of short moodfilms for their seasonal seminars in which they present trends for buyers and industry folks for the upcoming two years. This spring season resulted in these three film, depicting the trends for autumn/winter 2017/2018. What do you think?

I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to reveal about the trends themselves, at least not yet, but you should be able to get a feeling of them just through the films :)

Rosé frosé slushee, beach tents and cherries on top of it

rose slushe frose a beautiful mess blogger drink 1

Umm, did you see that Rosé slushee over at A Beautiful Mess? It is just the prettiest looking (and probably tasting) thing ever. It’s ultimate for suppressing every last bit of autumn. And it follows the cherry on top-rule, you know; how nothing can fail with a cherry on top (like these cream sodas for example). Heck, I think the first photo on pinterest must have included something with a cherry on top of it.

Speaking of rosé, I think these drinks would preferably be consumed near pink plants and a modest tent by the beach:
