gunnar asplund

museums and their cafes, such a wonderful combination. and librarys. there is nothing lika a magical-feeling, crusty old library. the city library in stockholm by architect gunnar asplund is actually pretty nice. i used to spend lot’s of time there when i was 15 or 16, pretending to be studying at one of the dimly lit tables but secretly just liking the feeling of all the notes being scribbled and books being searched for. i was a little pretentious i suppose. but i think that is allowed at librarys and at 15, don’t you?

I guess my blog is self-explanatory, I love books and libraries!
In Copenhagen I used to read in the old reading rooms of the Black Diamond, or rather the old part of det kongelige bibliotek. It has the old leather-bound books, leather covered chairs and desks, busts and those green lamps.

AHHH! That looks a lot like the Strahov Monastic Library in Prague. Which is so beautiful, it leaves you breathless.

You must be reading my mind, because I have a photo of that Library as my desktop right now. I love the memories it brings back.
