bonjour tristesse, francoise sagan

a little book suggestion for you.. i haven’t finished it myself though, so it’s not the best of reviews but.. i think you’ll like it. the two photos above represent the overall feeling of the book i guess. it’s a short novel written by a 19 year old girl named françoise quoirez in 1954. the name sagan is after a character in marcel prousts in search of lost time..
has anybody else read it? what did you think?

ett litet boktips. bonjour tristesse av francoise sagan handlar om 17-åriga cécile som tillbringar sommaren på rivieran med sin vilda pappa och två av hans kvinnor.. otroligt fin, läs!

Hi Katarina, your blog is wonderful!
Who is the girl in the picture? Is that Scarlett Johansson?

  2. This book reminds me of how I’ve always wanted summers to be. There was a movie made from it as well, I haven’t seen it yet, but its on my list to watch (available on Netflix instant for those that have it).

Yes, my favourite book, I used to read it every summer, outside in the sun, looking at the blue sky sometimes with the aeroplane stripes. Must have read it 10 times, when I was younger. It’s a book about dreams.

i like it. it creates a beautiful atmosphere, tension… its sexy. and its quite a comfortable and easy read, yet not too unintelligent. i get really annoyed by the main character though, as i often do when reading sagans novels…

what other authors do you like? i think youve got an excellent taste for aestethics, so im guessing our tastes in literature cant differ too much either.

Love this book! This made me start drinking black coffee after her descriptions of a coffee, an orange and a cigarette for breakfast…

    Hey Lolita!
It’s the first time I comment in your blog, but I visit it every day in my life! It inspires me a lot.
You know I’ve been really surprised when I’ve seen the title of one of my favourites books in a post.
I just love it, a friend recommended it to me long time ago, he said it was just written for me!
I’ve also seen the movie, I really hope you’ll enjoy it.
Decadence and lots of inspiration too.
    Lots of kisses,
    xx
    Anne
